USI - Unique Student Identifier

Everyone who undertakes vocational education and training in Australia must hold a Unique Student Identifier (USI).

The USI is a unique number – just for you – which allows you to obtain a complete record of your training achievements from a single online source.

It means you cannot lose a qualification and makes it easier to keep track of your education and training history

How to get a USI

Visit and follow the prompts.

You will need at least one or two forms of ID from the list below:

  • Driver’s Licence
  • Medicare Card
  • Australian Passport
  • Australian Birth Certificate
  • Citizenship Certificate
  • Visa (with Non-Australian Passport)
  • Certificate of Registration by Descent
  • ImmiCard

When you create your USI please ensure you use your name exactly as it appears on your form of ID or you might get stuck.

How to Login

Your username will be in the format: firstname.lastname.00 (zeros)
e.g. luke.vader.00 / christophe.robin.00

If your name is more than 20 characters, it will be shortened like the one in the example above. Some usernames have a different last digit. Ask us for help if your login doesn’t work.

Your password will initially be set to your date of birth in the format ddmmyyyy
e.g. 25051977

You will be prompted to change it after logging in on campus for the first time, then again throughout the year.
Your new password needs to be at least eight characters long and should contain at least one number and can’t be one you have used before.

When logged in on campus you can change your password by pressing the CTRL, ALT and DELETE keys together then selecting the Change a Password option.
To change your password off campus, click on the Student button on our website.

Contact us if you have any problems logging in or forget your password.

Once you have a TasTAFE login, you will be able to access our wifi with your own device/s.
