Digilabs: 3D Printing Guidelines & Cost

 

About our 3D printing service 

The 3D printing service is available for use by TasTAFE students and staff members.
TasTAFE Library Staff may use their discretion to print for affiliated groups and organisations.

Members of the public are unable to use our 3D printing service.

Guidelines of use

The 3D printer may NOT be used to create material that is:

  • prohibited by local, state or federal law,
  • unsafe, harmful, dangerous or poses an immediate threat to the well-being of others,
  • a firearm or other weapon, obscene or inappropriate,
  • in violation of another’s intellectual property rights. For example, the printers will not be used to reproduce material that is subject to copyright, patent or trademark protection.
     

The 3D printer must be used in accordance with TasTAFE and DoE policies.

  • TasTAFE Student Code of Conduct 
     

TasTAFE Library staff reserve the right to accept of decline and 3D printing request for any reason. 

Print Priority

Print jobs will be initiated on a first-come-first-served basis, with exceptions made only at the discretion of library employees. TasTAFE staff and students will be given queue priority over members of affiliated groups and organisations at all times.

TasTAFE Libraries and their staff cannot guarantee model quality or stability, the confidentiality of designs, or specific delivery times.

 

Cost

An initial quote will be given when a print request is submitted, the quote includes both the timeframe and cost. Payment is to be made at TasTAFE Client Services. Charges may occur for repeat failed prints at the discretion of the Library staff.

 

True Colours 

  • Cost for 1 hour or part thereof: $3.00
  • Cost for every additional hour of printing: $1.50

 

Specialty Colours

  • Cost for 1 hour or part thereof: $3.50
  • Cost for every additional hour of printing: $2.00

 

Glow in the Dark

  • Cost for 1 hour or part thereof: $5.50
  • Cost for every additional hour of printing: $4.00
