Hello everyone and welcome to 2022 at TasTAFE Libraries! As we all launch ourselves into studying and teaching for the year, here is some informationPrawns & salmon with herbs with chopsticks ready t about the services offered by the Library, for both staff and students.

COVID Safety on campus: If you are planning to visit one of the TasTAFE Libraries, you are most welcome to do so. Just like all other parts of the campus, you will need to be fully vaccinated, and wear a mask while you are in the library. For more information about COVID safety at TasTAFE, please see the TasTAFE COVID-19 Updates page and the Tasmanian Government COVID website. The TasTAFE COVID-19 page will be updated regularly, so please check that page often.

Library Opening hours: There are 6 libraries across that state that all TasTAFE staff and students are welcome to use. Our opening hours and times are on our Hours and Locations page. The Library at the Devonport campus has a specialised Cookery collection, while the Drysdale Library in Hobart is mainly focused on the Tourism and Hospitality industries, with many resources focused on Cookery. If you are on another campus and would like resources sent to your campus Library, you can place a hold on the item/s. Instructions on this are available on our website. Please contact your library staff if you need more help.

LibChat: The Library’s LibChat online chat service is back after the holiday break. Students and staff can contact us via the chat icon in the bottom right of the screen. If the icon is orange, you can chat to us! Chat is available 9am to 4pm Mondays to Thursdays, and 9am to 3:30pm on Fridays. If you need to contact the library outside these hours, you can use our Ask the Library service, via the button on our homepage.  You can also contact each library individually.

Orientations: Teachers! Don’t forget that each library offers face-to-face orientations for new and existing students. Each orientation is tailored to the group attending and will feature the available resources and services from the library. We can also offer sessions around a range of subjects including referencing, sourcing information, using TasTAFE technologies and systems and using various library resources. We also offer online orientation and help sessions. Contact your nearest campus library for more information and to book for your class.

SECTOR NEWS:

Skills IQ: Cookery Project has been endorsed and awaiting publication - The Cookery training package update has been endorsed; however publication of the new products is being held back until the other SIT package products are also updated, due to the large number of cross-over units. Remember that the library can help teachers to source new training materials if needed when the updated products are released.
