Referencing is how you acknowledge that you have used someone else's ideas or words in your work. Citing where you found your information helps validate your work, allows your reader to follow up on information, and protects you from committing plagiarism (which is a form of cheating).
"Simply put, plagiarism is the act of taking someone else’s work and presenting it as your own. Committing plagiarism is unethical and a breach of academic integrity" - (BibGuru, 2023)
Under TasTAFE's Student Code of Conduct you have a responsibility to "provide authentic original assessment evidence and not engage in plagiarism or cheating in any assessment."
