Bushfire Season

                Bush fire recovery

Tasmania's bushfire season is usually due in November - December.

There is interesting reading on the Tas Fire Service website. Their publications page included this recent document Planned Burning Information for Landholders.

I have some information on how the first nation people cared for the land, in the effort to reduce fire damage to the flora and fauna.

Here are some excellent videos to watch.

Munginabitta's Country : flora and fauna at Panatana and Marshalls Hill by Sarah Lloyd
ISBN: 9780646558226
Publication Date: 2011
This book includes photographs of some of the plants and animals that occur at Panatana and Marshall Hills with an indication of their edibility and traditional methods of procurement.
There are at least two small wetland areas with a range of ground cover plants. Extensive stands of paperbark swamp forest fringe the shore. Panatana and Marshalls Hill provide foraging for numerous animals incliding marsupials, birds, reptiles, frogs and invertebrates.
